I wasn't going to say anything about the Jayhawks' defeat, but I feel I owe it to the public to give my take. It wasn't a surprise. The Jayhawks have been playing with an anemic offense all year long. They had trouble scoring. Consistent guard play has been absent all year long. I've been saying for two years that the Jayhawks have been playing un-watchful basketball. They play half-court all the time. They try to pound the ball in the post or kick out to a spot up three or someone goes one on one. In a word, BORING! This is what pretty much every team does. This is a big reason why I don't like college basketball as much as I used to. They only dunk and shoot three pointers. Get rid of the three point line. Move and shoot from somewhere else on the court. You can't expect big Wayne to do 30 post moves a game from the block. They never tried to run. They rarely pressed. They hardley ever forced any turnovers. All of these things Coach Roy's teams did. Coach Roy's teams were always different. Coach Roy's teams played a more watchable brand of basketball. The Jayhawks were so lucky to have coach Roy. If he hadn't come and hadn't worked out, there could have been really have bad basketball. This was a bad loss. Nothing against Bucknell, but the Jayhawks lost to a team that only has four or five scholarship players from a league that had never one a game in the NCAAs. Perennial top 10 teams just don't lose to opponents like that. This loss makes last years final 8 look like it was just a Coach Roy hangover. This is the first step to Self being on the hot seat. If he has a bad year next year and loses in the first round again. Self will be on the hot seat. With no players returning that have proven they can play, it will most likely get worse before it gets better. I hope the team plays well next year for all those Jayhawks yeahoos out there. I hope they sick around for a 17-12 season. That is a losing season for Jayhawk yeahoos. We'll see. Remember sports are just not that important. They are just entertainment. So, enjoy the sport, but it is not life or death. There is no reason to get too high to low over a victory or loss. theJEDMAN
